Daytona 500 — February
The "Great American Race" draws over 100,000 fans to Daytona International Speedway each February, making it one of the largest sporting events in the country. Race Week stretches across multiple days with qualifying races, fan experiences, and the iconic 500-mile NASCAR season opener. Hotels book out months in advance — residents often rent their homes or simply walk over to watch from nearby rooftops.
Daytona Beach Bike Week — March
Bike Week is one of the world's largest motorcycle rallies, drawing over 500,000 riders and spectators to Daytona Beach for 10 days each March. Main Street, Beach Street, and the Speedway come alive with bike shows, concerts, vendor exhibits, and the legendary Daytona Beach Boardwalk scene. The event has run continuously since 1937 and is as much a cultural institution as a rally.
Rolex 24 at Daytona — January
The IMSA WeatherTech Championship opener, the Rolex 24 is a grueling 24-hour endurance race at Daytona International Speedway held each January. Sports car racing fans consider it one of the most prestigious endurance events in North America. The race runs through the night — a spectacle of headlights and exhaust notes that can be heard across much of eastern Volusia County.
Biketoberfest — October
Biketoberfest is Bike Week's autumn counterpart, running four days each October with a cooler, more intimate atmosphere. Events spread across Main Street, Destination Daytona, and the Speedway. With Oktoberfest-style beer gardens added to the traditional rally mix, Biketoberfest has developed a distinct personality from its spring counterpart — rowdier in some spots, more relaxed in others.

Ormond Beach Festival of the Arts — November
The Ormond Beach Festival of the Arts is one of the longest-running outdoor art shows in Volusia County, held annually in Andy Romano Beachfront Park each November. Over 100 juried artists display fine art, photography, sculpture, and crafts against the backdrop of the Atlantic. Live music, local food vendors, and family activities make it a full-day outing for the community.
Daytona Beach Jazz & Blues Festival
The Daytona Beach Jazz & Blues Festival brings regional and national acts to the oceanfront each summer for a free weekend of live music at the Bandshell in Daytona Beach. The event draws large crowds of locals and visitors enjoying music on the sand with cold drinks and ocean breezes — classic Daytona Beach summer living.
Flagler Beach Holiday Events
Flagler Beach punches above its weight when it comes to community festivals. The annual 4th of July celebration on the beach is legendary in Flagler County, and the holiday season brings Nights of Lights-inspired events and a decorated pier lighting ceremony. The small-town atmosphere makes these events feel genuinely festive rather than commercial.
Ormond Beach FilmFest
The Ormond Beach FilmFest is an annual independent film festival hosted at local venues in downtown Ormond Beach. Celebrating both short and feature films from regional and national filmmakers, the festival includes screenings, filmmaker Q&As, and evening receptions. The event reflects the growing arts and creative scene taking root in central Ormond Beach.
Family Attractions
Daytona International Speedway Tours
Even outside of race weekends, the Speedway is a major attraction. The Daytona 500 Experience museum and behind-the-scenes Speedway tours run year-round, letting families explore the track, pit lane, and Victory Lane. The interactive exhibits are a hit for motorsports fans of all ages and make for a memorable afternoon on a slow beach week.
Marine Science Center — Ponce Inlet
The Marine Science Center on Ponce Inlet is one of the most visited family attractions in Volusia County. The center rehabilitates injured sea turtles and birds, and visitors can observe the animals up close through viewing areas. The shorebird sanctuary and boardwalk overlook are excellent for birding, and the center offers educational programs and touch tanks for children.
Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum
The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Florida at 175 feet and a National Historic Landmark. Visitors can climb all 203 steps to the top for panoramic views of the inlet, Atlantic, and Mosquito Lagoon. The restored keeper's cottages are now a museum of lighthouse history. The grounds are beautiful year-round and especially photogenic at sunset.
Ormond Beach Memorial Art Museum & Gardens
The Ormond Memorial Art Museum sits within a lush botanical garden in central Ormond Beach and is one of the most underrated cultural gems in the area. The museum hosts rotating exhibitions of regional fine art and permanent works in its sculpture gardens. Admission is free, making it a relaxed afternoon destination for families and couples alike.
Beach & Water Events
East Coast Surfing Championships
Daytona Beach hosts surfing competitions throughout the year, including the East Coast Surfing Championships held at various points along the Volusia County coast. The competitions draw top amateur and professional surfers and make for excellent spectating from the pier or beach. Volusia County's consistent beach break produces reliable surf conditions for competition-level surfing.
Volusia County Beach Volleyball Tournaments
The wide, flat beach along Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach serves as a venue for beach volleyball tournaments throughout spring, summer, and fall. Amateur and competitive tournaments are hosted at the Daytona Beach Boardwalk area and along Ormond Beach's public access points. The county maintains nets at several beach parks for informal play between tournaments.
Halifax River Regatta & Boat Parades
The Halifax River hosts boat parades and regattas throughout the year, including a beloved holiday boat parade each December when decorated vessels cruise the river at night. The holiday parade is best viewed from Riverfront Park in Ormond Beach or the river walk in Daytona Beach. The annual Halifax River Regatta brings sailboats and powerboats to the waterway for a full weekend event.
Sea Turtle Festival — Ormond Beach
Each summer, Ormond Beach and Ponce Inlet host Sea Turtle Festival events celebrating nesting season on Volusia County beaches. Events include guided turtle walks with trained naturalists, educational exhibits, family activities, and conservation fundraisers. The festival period coincides with peak nesting season (June–July), when loggerhead turtles can be observed nesting on the beach at night.

Ormond Beach Farmers Market
The Ormond Beach Farmers Market runs on Saturday mornings at the Granada Bridge area, featuring local produce, honey, baked goods, plants, and artisan crafts from Volusia and Flagler County vendors. The weekly market is a community institution and a great way to meet neighbors and shop for fresh local ingredients. Seasonal produce changes through the year — summer tomatoes and winter citrus are highlights.
Main Street Daytona Restaurant Week
Daytona Beach Restaurant Week runs annually in late spring, featuring prix-fixe menus and special offerings at dozens of local restaurants along Main Street, Beach Street, and A1A. The event is organized to spotlight independent restaurants and encourages residents to explore dining options beyond their usual spots. Participating restaurants range from casual waterfront spots to fine dining on the river.
Flagler Beach Seafood Festival
Flagler Beach hosts an annual Seafood Festival along the oceanfront that celebrates the area's fishing and coastal culture with fresh seafood, craft beer, live music, and local artisan vendors. The event typically draws crowds from both Volusia and Flagler counties and has grown into one of Flagler Beach's largest annual events. Shrimp, fish tacos, stone crab claws, and oysters are staples.
Tomoka Market & Seasonal Pop-Ups
Year-round, Ormond Beach and the north Volusia area hosts seasonal pop-up markets, holiday bazaars, and food truck events — particularly in the fall and winter months when seasonal residents return. Seasonal Event Calendar
Winter (December – February)
Peak snowbird season brings concerts, art shows, and community events back to full swing. Highlights include the Halifax River Holiday Boat Parade (December), Rolex 24 at Daytona (January), Daytona 500 (February), and Ormond Beach's New Year's events at the Casements. Temperatures are mild — mid-60s to low 70s — making outdoor events comfortable.
Spring (March – May)
Spring is the most event-dense season in Volusia County. Bike Week (March) dominates, followed by spring break beach activity, the Ormond Beach Arts District events, and the start of the farmers market season. The Halifax River Regatta and various surfing competitions also fall in this window as the weather warms and visitor traffic peaks.
Summer (June – August)
Summer is sea turtle nesting season, 4th of July beach celebrations, and the Jazz & Blues Festival at the Bandshell. While tourist traffic lightens after spring break, locals reclaim the beach. Community events, outdoor movies at Riverfront Park, and free summer concert series make for a full calendar. Afternoon thunderstorms are common — most events schedule around them.
Fall (September – November)
Fall brings cooler temperatures and Biketoberfest (October), the Ormond Beach Festival of the Arts (November), the Flagler Beach Seafood Festival, and the start of Ironman Florida and other endurance sports events in the region. The Halifax River Boat Parade returns in December. Crowds are smaller and the beach is at its most pleasant — locals consider fall the best season.
